I went an entire day yesterday without the crash. My best guess is that the Mac os Sequioa issues a dialogue for allowing third party apps to access storage and external storage. I finally got that approval window to come up for Illustrator (no idea why it didn't pop up first thing). Once I approved Illustrator's access, the finder crashing stopped. I believe you can pre-empt the crashing by going to settings: navigate to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Files and Folders, then select the specific Adobe app and enable access to the desired locations on your external storage device Perhaps someone could verify this? Not much info on this out there that i could find. Thanks for all of your help Monika!

Usually the save dialogue box never opens and the apple beachball spins and nothing ever happens until the os finder crashes and I have to restart.

Thanks for your response, Anubhav. It did rectify the 2 instances of AIRobin. Today I was working on a small vector only 19 Mb file and AIRobin was still using 786 Mb of memory while Illustrator was using 3 Gb. Is this normal that seems like a lot of memory? Thanks

Help Adobe, This has happened to me in the past but not this egregious. I have about 7-10 files open at any given time and I grind on those for a week to 10 days without quiting or restarting. Illustrator will get sluggish at times. When I look at my Activity Monitor I see that AIRobin is using nearly a Gb of RAM and it's doing that in two separate instances. I then will restart everything and when I re-open Illustrator, AIRobin will reappear in activity monitor. Does this sound normal? I wish I could tell you. It happened in just 15 mins. and I didn't really notice any software. It really just looked like they navigated through my finder to some different locations. I do remember it was a process and they started but deleting ALL fonts, all preferences in the folder and then beyond that I couldn't follow. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful

So I finally got this remedied but I had to have a share desktop session with an adobe tech. The way that I understand this is when you update to new versions of Illustrator and other Adobe software you're given the option to save past preferences. Well there's something broken with this feature and somewhere it is saving a .plist file or some preference file for every past version of Adobe that I had ever had. I watched the files get deleted and I saw some CS2 files and it was really like cleaning out your ancient junk drawer. I would recommend having a share you pc session with Adobe if this problem persists. Also they need to really remedy this. Good luck

Thank you Ashutosh, I tried everything you listed here twice and AIRobin still appears and used double RAM. I even created a dummy account and logged in to the mac and it still appears (however it uses slightly less RAM in this occasion for what it's worth). There must be a way to get rid of this problem.

So this is still happening to me. Let me say first that i have checked the preferences in Bridge and there are zero file types allocated to AIRobin. I have also turned off background saving and background exporting in Illustrator preferences. At this moment I have Illustrator open with no files open and it's using 13 GB of RAM. This makes it impossible to have multiple files open aor to have Photoshop open at the same time. I typically have 4-5 projects open at a time in tabs. Randomly about every hour or so, Illustrator will lose use of this feature and I will only be able to view the project that I was viewing at the time. Clicking on other tabs does nothing. Only restarting Illustrator or dragging the tabs into their own windows rectifies the issue. This is my second post because it's super frustrating.
I have tried: Uninstalling/Reinstalling, deleting preferences.
Illustrator 24.0.3
Mac OS Catalina 10.15.2

About every 30-60 mins. I will lose the use of the workspace tabs and only be able to see the current open tab. I can click on other tabs, even save them, but stay on the project that I was working on . I have to restart the program to rectify this. Then it repeats. Thank you. Here is the requested information* *I have had this happen on 2 similar computers running the same os and version but I will give info for 1. • OS Mojave 10.14.5 Illustrator 23.0.4 • Files saved in a folder on system HDD • The issue has arisen on multiple documents. Many documents almost every time. • There have been no recent changes to my system. With whom am I sharing crash reports? Illustrator doesn't always crash when I encounter this error but I have to restart it. It starts working erratically. For instance the bounding box will disappear, I will be unable to resize objects and Illustrator will undo 2-3 steps back from where I was. Restart always rectifies problems. Thanks, Dean
